How does the Calculus Success Program work?

At its simplest, the program basically works in 3 steps:

1. Preparation = Watch the minilecture before class filling in the blanks in the workbook and do a Bullet Point Reading of the section to be covered.
2. Classroom = Bring questions for your instructor and be actively involved in the class (you will be able to do this because you will be prepared).
3. Pre-Homework Exercises = Work through the video problems with my help.

This gives you an amazing foundation to be able to complete your homework much more easily and you will learn an incredible amount. The goal is to give you the power to take control of your education by having available minilectures and examples for all topics. The most difficult topics have the most video examples. The workbook has a detailed user guide that explains the process in detail.

This sounds like I will spend a lot more time than I usually do. Why should I?

Actually, what you are doing is you are studying smarter, so you are getting more bang for your time bucks! What will start happening is because you have these extra resources, Calculus will make much more sense and you will actually enjoy working on it. Before you know it, you will become immersed in the wonderful subject of Calculus. If you spend more time on Calculus that will only be because you are enjoying it, because in reality you will complete your assignments in less time than you did before.

Who are you?

My name is Guillermo Alvarez, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at San Diego City College. I love teaching, especially Calculus. In my spare time I enjoy making math videos.
